Adding to the Legacy

Home hostess Danielle Kavanagh, in collaboration with Thea Pagel Productions, put on a wonderful “Soul Revival” 2012 that benefited the Legacy Donor Foundation on Saturday, February 4.

Pompadour Productions created dazzling decorations for the event. Woody Riuz coordinated the dining options for the fundraiser. Roving gourmets provided a variety of festival fares. Other items included Woody’s fish tacos, Anne Churchill’s Karma Kitchen sliders, Jacques Imo’s fried chicken and Crêpes à la Carte. A “circle bar” featured specialty cocktails by Victory Bar’s Daniel Victory.

Throughout the evening, music was never in short supply in a variety of genres from gospel by Shades of Praise to local sounds of revival by The Stooges Brass Band that also included a guest drum performance by Jim Letton and a harmonica solo by John Casbon.

The wet weather couldn’t keep donors away, and they even embraced the rain, handing out flip-flops to women attendees at a “shoe check.”

The event raised over $200,000 through sponsorships and ticket sales for the Legacy Donor Foundation. The Foundation aims to raise awareness to all Louisiana citizens about the life saving ability of organ, tissue and eye donation and hopes to motivate all citizens to become organ donors.
