Adopt A Duck And Donate A Meal

8th Annual Duck Derby

Natalie Jayroe is president and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank for South Louisiana. In this podcast, Jayroe explains how Second Harvest Food Bank helps fight hunger in 23 South Louisiana parishes. The organization provides an estimated 30 million meals each year, providing much needed food to 210,00 people throughout the area. On Saturday, June 3, everyone can help Second Harvest make a difference in the lives of local children and families by adopting one duck—or several—at the 8th Annual Duck Derby in City Park. For every $1 raised, Second Harvest Food Bank will be able to provide three much-needed meals. This year, the goal of this fun fundraiser is to launch 20,000 rubber “racing ducks” into the park’s Great Lake. The first prize for the 2017 Duck Derby will be $5,000 cash. Visit www.duckrace.com/nola to adopt a duck.
