NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The Al Copeland Foundation and the team at “Be A Hero. Thank a Hero” have launched its “Heroes Unite for the Gulf Coast” fundraising effort to help the people along the Gulf Coast who were impacted by Hurricanes Sally and Laura. The Al Copeland Foundation is partnering with suppliers, businesses, and restaurants to deliver hot meals, essential items, and supplies to residents in need.
“We have aligned ourselves with an incredible group of people and businesses that stand ready to make things happen,” said Al Copeland, Jr. “It is in our nature to help those in need, and right now there are a lot of people hurting—from hurricanes, unemployment, and pandemic-related repercussions. We invite those who can help, to unite with us to be heroes for our gulf coast neighbors.”
On Aug. 27, Hurricane Laura, a historically powerful category-4 storm packing winds of 150 miles per hour, slammed into the southwestern Louisiana Gulf Coast, devastating cities and towns from Cameron to Shreveport. On Sept. 16, Hurricane Sally, a category-2 storm, made landfall on the Gulf Coast near Gulf Shores, Alabama, and left a band of destruction across the state and Gulf South. Tens of thousands are without power, neighborhoods are flooded, and homes are submerged.
The Al Copeland Foundation invites the public to make donations to the “Heroes Unite for the Gulf Coast” campaign. Donations may be made in denominations of $5 to send a little love, $10 to send some more love, $20 to send much love, or $50 to send a lot of love. Donations of $500, $1000, $5000, and $10,000 will help provide hot meals and essential items to those in need. To donate, please go to HeroesUniteForTheGulfcoast.com.
The Al Copeland Foundation partnered with Hippomatic Marketing to successfully organize a campaign called “Be A Hero. Thank A Hero,” which raisedover 100 thousand dollars to support first responders amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Those operations delivered essential items to Louisiana doctors, nurses, EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, and policemen.
