Alan & Marianne Mumford

Alan & Marianne MumfordAlan and Marianne Mumford met when they were students at Louisiana State University. Not only did they fall in love with each other, but also they discovered that they had a few things in common. They both graduated with degrees in landscape architecture, and they both share a profound passion for the community.

In 1984, they opened up Landscape Images in Jefferson, which “seems like only yesterday,” Marianne Mumford says. The business is having one of its most successful years, and the duo is focused on giving back to New Orleans by working on various civic projects and volunteer work. “We are so driven to save the city,” says Mumford.

The couple keeps their hands full and their schedules busy with helping out the Green Middle School Grounds Project, City Park restoration, and tending to various areas around town, like the neutral ground on St. Charles and South Carrollton avenues.

The company also has a talent for residential areas. “We are unique in our philosophy that we design for the customer’s interest and personality,” Marianne says. The areas they landscape range from formal estate gardens to a recent project where they created an interactive garden with butterflies and chalkboards set up along the pathway for the children. “It really depends on the architecture of the house and what the customer wants,” she says.

In addition to designing, Landscape Images carries out its projects from “start to finish,” taking care of the installation, maintenance and irrigation.
