How did you start in the business? My wife and cousin encouraged me, and my first job at The Playboy Club in the French Quarter was a lot of fun. When I was asked to design hair for photographer Diane Arbus, I knew this was the career for me.
What makes Albert Brown successful? Special service and fine work delivered by an amazing team. My sister Margaret Brown and I have been in the business since the 1960s. We also have young stylists, so as a team we offer experience with the latest thinking.
What will be the trends for the fall? Strong colors, bold, fuller hair and more layered bobs from chin length to shoulder length.
Can you share three hair and makeup rules?
1) Find a hairstylist you can trust who can design a haircut and color to fit your face shape, fashion sense and lifestyle. Make sure they teach you how to recreate your look.
2) Shampoo hair regularly; clean hair is much easier to style and is shinier.
3) Your hair is your No. 1 accessory, use the best products.
Is there anything else you would like to add? It was amazing winning an Emmy for “American Horror Story” and working on Interview with the Vampire and Benjamin Button. We have worked with Make Me Up for 10 years and it’s been fantastic; we now have the largest collection of fine costume jewelry.
