Algiers Holiday Bonfire & Concert Returns to Mississippi River in 2022

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The Algiers Economic Development Foundation proudly announces the return of its annual Algiers Holiday Bonfire & Concert on Dec. 3 on the Algiers batture, 200 Morgan St. from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

This year’s event features an Algiers-centric line up, with the Young Pinstripes Brass Band headlining. Opening acts include the All Saints Catholic Church Choir and Edna Karr Marching Band. DJ FTK will kick off the night of music and serve as the evening’s host.

The event will feature Algiers businesses and talent, including musicians, food vendors, artists, and of course, a custom-built, 30’ ft. bonfire designed by the local artists of NOLA Burners. This year’s Bonfire will also feature an art market hosted by StayLocal and Bounyful Market, a farmer’s market that began serving the Algiers community in 2020. The Regional Transit Authority is planning for increased capacity on the Algiers Ferry route to make getting to the Bonfire fast and easy.

“The Algiers Holiday Bonfire & Concert is a showcase of all that makes Algiers great,” said Algiers Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Kelsey Foster. “This event is such a wonderful time for the small businesses, artists, musicians, chefs, and creators from within our community to come together and shine.”

A specialty cocktail from Happy Raptor Distilling and Bud Light from Southern Eagle Distributing will be available for purchase at the Bonfire & Concert. All tip proceeds will be donated to the Algiers Kiwanis Club to further their work in our community.

On Fire sponsors for this year’s event include: The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, Port of New Orleans, and Harrah’s City Council Community Grant. Blazin’ sponsors include: New Orleans Business Alliance, Old Algiers Main Street, and Algiers Development District. Smokin’ sponsors include Compass Point Events, Chick-fil-A, Millennial Financial Solutions, Gambel Communications, Southern Eagle Distributing, Happy Raptor Distilling, and L&R Security.

“We’re so grateful to the sponsors who make this event possible, and who support our work and the Algiers community throughout the year,” Foster said.

This year’s event marks the second Bonfire on the Algiers riverfront since a hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All city and state regulations will be enforced to ensure that Bonfire guests can enjoy the event safely and responsibly.
