For Mother’s Day, I thought I’d do that thing some of my friends have done on Facebook where they ask their kids to answer questions about them. Below are the answers from Ruby, 9, and Georgia, 3.5.

1. What is something I always say to you?

Ruby: “It’s getting late; you should go to bed. You’ll be tired in the morning.”
Georgia: You say, “Get in the car or you’ll be late.”

2. What is something that makes me happy?

Ruby: Not yelling at you when you’re stuck in traffic.
Georgia: Listening to my words.

3. What is something that makes me unhappy?

Ruby: Fighting with me about homework
Georgia: When we tattle on each other

4. What do I do that makes you laugh?

Ruby: Tickle us
Georgia: Try to dance

5.  What was I like as a child?

Ruby: You liked to read. You always like to read.
Georgia: You were always naked.

6. How old am I?

Ruby: 35
Georgia: I don’t know. 45?
(Ed . note: Ruby is correct. Georgia is in time-out.)

7. What do I do when you’re not around?

Ruby: Drink wine
Georgia: Watch “Gilmore Girls”?
(Ed. note: Both are true.)

8. What is my favorite thing to do?

Ruby: Read
Georgia: Hug me
(Ed. note: Again, both quite true.)

9. What am I really good at?
Ruby: Ooh, that’s easy! Editing. Wait, no. No. Writing.
Georgia: Drinking coffee

10. What am I really bad at?

Ruby: Making jokes
Georgia: Driving
(Ed. note: Hey, now! I am hilarious, and I haven’t had a traffic ticket since 1999.)

11. What’s my favorite food?
Ruby: Easy. Easy. Pizza.
Georgia: Pizza.
(Ed. note: I like pizza just fine, but I think I prefer sushi or pasta, honestly.)

12. What’s my favorite thing to drink?
Ruby: Coffee or LaCroix
Georgia: Coffee or wine

13. What do I do for a job?
Ruby: Editing
Georgia: Take care of me

14. If I were a character, who would I be?
Ruby: Rory Gilmore on “Gilmore Girls”
Georgia: Peppa Pig

15. How are we alike?

Ruby: We both have hazel eyes. We both are worriers.
Georgia: We have lips.

16. How are we different?

Ruby: You have straight hair; I have curly hair. You’ve gone through puberty, and I haven’t yet.
Georgia: You’re bigger than me.

17. What’s my favorite place to go?
Ruby: PJ’s for iced coffee
Georgia: Sleep

18. What’s a bad habit I have?
Ruby: Biting your nails (but I do it, too).
Georgia: You get mad when I tell everyone you have a baby in your belly even though I know you don’t.
(Ed. note: This is entirely true – last week, Georgia patted my stomach and screamed, “HELLO IN THERE, BABY BROTHER!!!” in front of her entire class, and I was less-than-thrilled.)

19. What else makes me mad?
Ruby: When Georgia head-butts you.
Georgia: When we fight.

20. How do you know I love you?
Ruby: You give us embraces and kisses. You write special messages on my snacks.
Georgia: Because you tell me and you get me ice cream

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there (and especially to my mom and my mother-in-law, Libby.)
