For Mother’s Day, I thought I’d do that thing some of my friends have done on Facebook where they ask their kids to answer questions about them. Below are the answers from Ruby, 9, and Georgia, 3.5.

Ruby: “It’s getting late; you should go to bed. You’ll be tired in the morning.”
Georgia: You say, “Get in the car or you’ll be late.”
2. What is something that makes me happy?
Ruby: Not yelling at you when you’re stuck in traffic.
Georgia: Listening to my words.
3. What is something that makes me unhappy?
Ruby: Fighting with me about homework
Georgia: When we tattle on each other
4. What do I do that makes you laugh?
Ruby: Tickle us
Georgia: Try to dance
5. What was I like as a child?
Ruby: You liked to read. You always like to read.
Georgia: You were always naked.
6. How old am I?
Ruby: 35
Georgia: I don’t know. 45?

Ruby: Drink wine
Georgia: Watch “Gilmore Girls”?

(Ed. note: Hey, now! I am hilarious, and I haven’t had a traffic ticket since 1999.)

Ruby: You have straight hair; I have curly hair. You’ve gone through puberty, and I haven’t yet.
Georgia: You’re bigger than me.

Ruby: PJ’s for iced coffee

Ruby: Biting your nails (but I do it, too).
Georgia: You get mad when I tell everyone you have a baby in your belly even though I know you don’t.
(Ed. note: This is entirely true – last week, Georgia patted my stomach and screamed, “HELLO IN THERE, BABY BROTHER!!!” in front of her entire class, and I was less-than-thrilled.)

Ruby: When Georgia head-butts you.
Georgia: When we fight.

Ruby: You give us embraces and kisses. You write special messages on my snacks.
