Don Marshall is executive director for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Foundation. Don describes how Bruce Springsteen has come to perform in this year's 2012 festival. He also explains how New Orleans' Jazz Fest differs from other music festivals around the country. Don tells us that, prior to Hurricane Katrina, Jazz Fest included an international cultural trade exchange approximately every other year. However, this year, festival organizers decided to make the cultural exchange an annual event. For 2012, they will focus on a unique aspect of our own culture: New Orleans' emblematic Mardi Gras Indians. Don also describes the many ways the Foundation contributes to the community year-round by helping local school music programs and assisting musicians. Listen here.
