You could say that Lynn Blossman wears two hats on a daily basis. In one building in Covington, are Blossman’s two businesses: La Perrin, a home furnishings store, and London Hill, a clothing store.
La Perrin opened first in 1998, but Blossman says she always wanted to own a clothing store. However, both her and her husband knew she would probably end up “wearing all the clothes instead of selling them,” Blossman says, so they waited a while before fulfilling her dream of running both types of establishments.
La Perrin is known for its furniture and bedding from designers like Christian Aubry and Bella Notte. In addition, the store sells Baton Rouge-based Burts Cason hand-painted lamps and bowls, which Blossman describes as “absolutely stunning.” La Perrin just started selling faux flower arrangements that can put that finishing touch on a room.
In April 2005, Blossman was able to make her favorite “hobby” —fashion—a part of her business life. London Hill “caters to the sophisticated woman,” says Blossman. The store carries brand names at different price points, specializing in chic clothing from designers like Nicole Miller, Max Mara, 3 Dots and Donna Karan, among many others. “We have beautiful clothing and a ton of good lines,” she says.
Blossman says she feels fortunate. “This was a tough year, but also a great year. Usually it takes a couple of years, but it [the store] did really well.”
She has recently extended the hours of both stores, which are open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The luxurious items offered by both establishments are really catching on. “Some of our customers come in on a daily basis!” Blossman says.
