NEW ORLEANS (press release) – New Orleans-area runners and walkers dressed in holiday costumes and attire will take part in the first-ever Allstate Sugar Bowl Christmas in Lafreniere Park Run/Walk on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 3 p.m. The two-mile fun run/walk marks the first in-person Crescent City Classic event of 2020. Race officials invite families and costumed runners and walkers of all ages to participate in this year’s inaugural two-mile event.
Due to COVID concerns, participants will be placed into groups of 100 and stay in a holding area to allow for a staggered start. All participants will be required to wear masks or facial coverings at the starting point and finisher area. The run/walk staggered starting time is scheduled for 3 p.m. Following the race, all runners and walkers will be able to enjoy the park’s walking light tour and purchase food and drinks from local food trucks.
Entry into the Christmas in Lafreniere Park Run/Walk is $30 until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, December 4 and $35 from Saturday, Dec. 5, through race day. Children 3-10 and Military and service members receive a $5 discount. Children under the age of 3 do not need to pay entry or wear a race bib. Race bibs can be purchased here. Registration includes a long-sleeved official holiday-themed glow-in-the-dark race shirt, a race bib and early admission to Lafreniere Park’s walking tour lights display.

The two-mile course for the Allstate Sugar Bowl Christmas in Lafreniere Park Run/Walk encompasses the park and showcases all of its holiday decor. The race is a two-mile fun run and walk for people and families of all ages. The run/walk is produced by the Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic and is part of the Crescent City Classic Race Series – with the premier race being the Crescent City Classic 10K. The Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic 10K takes place on April 3, 2021.
