Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic Announces Full Race Schedule for 2021

60d67326 Dccc 4d45 Aa0c D7fb389c87e8NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic officials today announced the full slate of events for the 2021 calendar year. The newly released schedule features a combination of virtual challenges and in-person events.

Notably, this year’s Crescent City Classic 10k scheduled for Sunday, April 3, will be a virtual event for the second consecutive year out of an abundance of caution for public safety during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Officials currently plan to host two in-person events in November and December of this year as city and state COVID restrictions allow.

The calendar includes the inaugural virtual “Mardi Gras Parade-athon” as well three returning virtual events from 2020 – “Liberty Road Challenge” in partnership with The National WWII Museum, “Bourbon Street Barathon” in partnership with the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation and “Me Time Challenge” in partnership with Ochsner Health.

The full schedule of events is as follows:
January 6-March 31: Mardi Gras Parade-athon (Virtual)
April 3: Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic 10k (Virtual)
June 6: Liberty Road Challenge (Virtual)
August 15: Bourbon Street Barathon (Virtual)
November 1: Me Time Challenge (Virtual)
November 13: Allstate Sugar Bowl Corporate Classic (In-Person)
December 11: Allstate Sugar Bowl Celebration in the Oaks (In-Person)

“We’re excited to announce our full slate of events for 2021,” said Crescent City Classic Race Director Eric Stuart. “While there’s still some uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, our plan consists of virtual events for the first three quarters of the year, and we hope to return to normal with in-person events beginning this November.”

New this year is the combining of the CCC’s Fall Classic and the YMCA’s Corporate Cup. The newly combined event will take place on November 13 and mark the first planned in-person event of the 2021 calendar.

“The YMCA of Greater New Orleans and the Crescent City Classic are two well-known and trusted non-profit organizations in New Orleans. It seemed like a natural fit to join our two long-time races, the Corporate Cup and the Fall Classic, to provide an even better experience for our participants and supporters,” said YMCA of Greater New Orleans President Gordon Wadge. “It’s even more exciting that the Corporate Classic will be the first in-person race that either of our organizations have had since before the pandemic. It will be a celebration!”

While officials are looking forward to transitioning to in-person events later in the year, all races moving forward will contain a virtual portion as an option for participants.

Currently, registration is open for the inaugural Mardi Gras Parade-athon at www.ccc10k.com. The challenge requires participants to complete six virtual parade routes covering the marathon span of 26.2 miles. Registration is $50. Participants can begin logging their miles on February 5 with the last day to log miles as March 31.

Any questions runners have about virtual races can be emailed to virtualrace@ccc10k.com.
