Under lit-up live oaks and starry skies, guests of “Magic in the Moonlight” experienced the enchantments of the New Orleans Botanical Garden as they dined al fresco.
At twilight, guests perused the Parterre Rose Garden during the cocktail party and silent auction. For the seated dinner, everyone filtered into the main axis of the Botanical Garden.
Silver candelabras and floral arrangements of freesia, hydrangeas and Casablanca tulips graced each table as guests enjoyed a delicious fresh market salad, herb-crusted New Zealand lamb chops and a delectable dessert prepared by Chef Evan Benson of Joel Catering. The sounds of Wendell Brunious charmed guests throughout the evening.
The silent auction featured special packages such as a Sunday afternoon at the country home of patrons Jennifer and Fred Heebe to enjoy a family-style dinner prepared by chefs Donald Link and Ryan Prewitt and dancing to the rhythm of a traditional zydeco band, which was purchased by 21 couples.
Sybil Favrot, Tina Kern and Lydia Sneed served as Event Chairs.
This intimate fête was sold out two months before the date and raised more than $150,000 towards the construction of a new entrance to the Botanical Garden and Storyland.
