An Evening, A Fair

An estimated 400 supporters of the Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (CADA) ventured to City Park Carousel Gardens Amusement Park for a fun-filled evening at the Carnivale on October 8. The gathering had something for everyone in the family from amusement rides sponsored by the Gershanik family, Iberia Bank and others, to an auction including items such as hotels, dinners and Saints memorabilia.

A patron party on October 6 at the home of honorary chairs Donna and Paul Flower preceded the evening of festivities. The Gumbo Trio greeted the 100 attendees with jazz tunes at the home adorned with flowers, where they dined on dishes provided by Michael’s Catering.

CADA, a United Way nonprofit, has serviced the community in the prevention of and intervention of substance abuse for over 50 years.  The organization has implemented programs such as Teen Intervene and B-Mint in the community, and looks forward to another 50 years with plenty of plans in the works. Proceeds raised at Carnivale will benefit substance abuse programs in Orleans and Jefferson parishes.
