On the evening of March 7, the Audubon Tea Room was packed for the New Orleans Leadership Council of the Louisiana Center for Women and Government and Nicholls State University. WWL-TV’s Eric Paulsen served as celebrity co-chair as well as master of ceremonies. The fundraiser, which featured several local media celebrities, business people and elected officials in the New Orleans community, raised money for the Louisiana Center for Women and Government’s internship program, which allows students from Louisiana colleges and universities to earn college credit while gaining hands-on experience in a governmental office. Co-chaired by Kathleen Mix, the party included a sit-down dinner as well as live and silent auctions.
The Louisiana Center for Women and Government at Nicholls State University was established in 1990, to encourage the future leadership of women by preparing them for public service through nonpartisan provision and support of education. The center develops programs to make women more aware of the governmental process in general and urges women to participate actively in that process.
