NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Thriller fans rejoice. Acclaimed New York Times bestselling author Riley Sager will be at the Garden District Book Shop June 22 to celebrate the release of his new book “The Only One Left,” a Gothic chiller about a young caregiver assigned to work for a woman accused of a Lizzie Borden-like massacre decades earlier.
The event will kick-off at 6:00 p.m. where Sager will regale guests with insights into the world of “The Only One Left” and his artistic process. He will then sate guests’ curiosity with a Q&A. Afterwards, Sager will sign copies of his book. Guests are encouraged to enjoy a cocktail and explore the shop’s newly redesigned thriller and horror section while they wait. Entrance to the event requires purchase of a ticket through Eventbrite. Individual guests can purchase a single book ticket for $35. Couples tickets (entry for two and one book) are also available for $40. Additional refreshments will be available for purchase at The Chicory House, The Garden District Book Shop’s sister concept.
At seventeen, Lenora Hope
Hung her sister with a rope
Stabbed her father with a knife
Took her mother’s happy life
“It wasn’t me,” Lenora said
But she’s the only one not dead
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.
