Angela Hill Named Krewe of Nyx Grand Marshal

NEW ORLEANS (press release) — Angela Hill, a mainstay on the local television airwaves for nearly 40 years, will lead this year’s Mystic Krewe of Nyx parade.

“Angela Hill is New Orleans,” said Nyx founder and Captain Julie Lea. “She is part of the fabric of this city and has obviously been a huge part of Mardi Gras over the years. I couldn’t be happier that she will lead this year’s parade.”

Hill joined WWL-TV in 1975 as a reporter and ascended to anchoring nightly newscasts shortly after. She was part of a team that dominated the local news race for decades before her retirement in 2013.

“I can’t put into words how honored I am to be Grand Marshal of Nyx,” said Hill. “These incredible women have created a Krewe with so much love and energy. To have grown into the largest Krewe in a few years says everything about their inclusiveness and vision.”

Earlier, Nyx announced Miss Shelby Ann Seuzeneau, daughter of Kevin and Lori Seuzeneau, would reign as Goddess Nyx VIII.

The Mystic Krewe of Nyx will roll on the traditional Uptown route on Feb. 27. In addition to its signature hand-decorated purses, Nyx will throw uniquely-shaped doubloons that reflect this year’s theme, along with its signature purse-shaped doubloons. The parade’s theme is traditionally a secret and isn’t revealed until the parade begins.
