Anglophiles in the Isle: Part 5

Whether it’s the British monarchy or the romantic writing of Jane Austen, there is something about Great Britain that Americans love. The land is beautiful, the people are intriquing and the food is sometimes interesting; but there is always something to do or some great scenery to view, making it the essential honeymoon destination for newlywed couples.

In the current issue of New Orleans Bride Magazine, travel editor Becca Hensley takes us across the pond, diving deep into the riches of England, Ireland and all that’s in between.

We’ve seen towers in Northern Ireland, a lush estate in northeast England, hopped over to the Celtic Sea in Cornwall and, most recently, slept among the trees in Hampshire.

This week we’re going coast to coast in England with a 192-mile hike.

Discover Britain on foot with REI Adventure’s all encompassing England Coast to Coast hike, a trek which traces the myriad highlights of Alfred Wainwright’s iconic 192-mile hike, from the west side’s Irish Sea to the North Sea in the east. A guided trip, this tour wends through three distinct National Parks, the poetic Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York moors — replete with heather-rimmed ridges and haunting, moody terrain. Lilliputian shops, teahouses, pubs, vicarages, farmland, old world inns, and picturesque villages complete the vision.
