La Provence Pairs with Pontchartrain Vineyards for an Evening of Distinction
La Provence stays close to home this month with a celebrated wine tasting dinner featuring Louisiana’s own, Pontchartrain Vineyards on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. The perfect pair, La Provence, which first opened its doors in 1972, and Pontchartrain Vineyards, which planted its first grapes in 1978, both enjoy the wealth of natural flavors and cultural traditions indigenous to Louisiana.
La Provence, Chef John Besh’s provencal auberge in Lacombe, Louisiana, celebrates the time-honored rustic techniques and cuisine of southern France, while balancing the multi-faceted cuisine of his beloved southern Louisiana through his commitment to sustainable and local ingredients.
Pontchartrain Vineyards is the only winery in Louisiana which produces table wines exclusively from traditional bunch/wine grapes. Winemaker, John Seago, has learned viticulture and wine making primarily by cultivating French-American hybrid grapes over the last 20 years in Louisiana.
Hosted by Chef Besh and John Seago, the five course prix-fix menu will be complemented by a selection of wines including two white varietals, three reds, and one port, “The Port of New Orleans” – how fitting! Tickets are $85 per person, all-inclusive, and may be purchased by calling Christy Bradley at 504.299.9777 ext. 304. La Provence is located at 25020 Highway 190 in Lacombe, Louisiana.
