3RD ANNUAL GATSBY DOG SECOND LINE & CELEBRATION
Benefiting the Louisiana SPCA
Sponsored by
Heaven’s Pets at Lake Lawn Metairie Cremation & Bereavement Center
Bring together man’s best friends, wonderful New Orleans music, and a memorial honoring the human/animal bond, all against the backdrop of one of New Orleans’s most historic neighborhoods and you have the Third Annual Gatsby Dog Second Line & Celebration taking place in New Orleans’ Historic Algiers Point, Sunday, May 17, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
This uniquely N’awlins celebration has become one of the “must do” events of the year for pet lovers and music lovers alike. It’s also the only place you’ll find a second line celebration tailored especially for dogs and their humans, and the only one that honors our relationship with our pets, both past and present. As in past years, the event benefits a worthy cause – with proceeds dedicated to the Louisiana SPCA, also located in historic Algiers. Proceeds are generated from the registration fee required for all participants.
The Celebration is an ideal outing for any pet lover, and because it’s conveniently located just across the River from the French Quarter you can easily get to the event from the Canal Street Ferry, which allows dogs and their humans to use the ferry!
Heaven’s Pets at Lake Lawn Metairie Cremation & Bereavement Center is the signature sponsor for the event which is named in memory of Gatsby, a five-pound Yorkshire terrier who was well known in his Algiers Point neighborhood.
The event begins with a Memorial Celebration honoring the relationship we have with our furred companions, both past and present. All participants/registrants will receive a memorial ribbon and are encouraged to bring photos in memory of their beloved pets. Featuring second line music by Free Agents Brass Band and Some Like it Hot, along with food, drinks, treats for pooches, and kids activities, it’s the must do event for any and all animal lovers. The first 100 registrants also receive “Gatsby Dog” beads and three food/drink tickets.
The New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation and Stephens Financial Services have also joined the celebration sponsoring this year’s music.
During the celebration, be sure to get the special Gatsby Dog Drink, in a souvenir cup, available at both the Dry Dock Café and Old Point Bar, for only $5.
