Antoine’s Restaurant celebrates 175 years in business

Rick Blount is a fifth generation family member and great-great-grandson of Antoine’s Restaurant’s original owner, Antoine Alciatore. After briefly working in the kitchen of the grand Saint Charles Hotel, in 1840, Antoine opened a small boarding house and restaurant. Twenty-eight years later, Antoine’s moved to its current French Quarter location at 713 Saint Louis Street. In this podcast interview, Rick shares stories about and describes early family members and explains how the business evolved into a world-famous restaurant. On Saturday, October 3, 2015, Antoine’s will celebrate its 175th year in business with a festive Prohibition-themed party to benefit The Historic New Orleans Collection.
