NEW ORLEANS – With the start of the Carnival season around the corner, thoughts of parades, marching and Mardi Gras balls are dancing through every New Orleanian’s head. For celebration this year, local organization Arc Greater New Orleans (ArcGNO) – which states they work secure for all people with intellectual disabilities and delays opportunities to develop, function, and live to their fullest potential – is asking for the community’s help.
ArcGNO is seeking donations of gently used ball gowns (formal or semi-formal) in all sizes and styles suitable for its annual participant Sole of the Arc Mardi Gras Sneaker Ball that will be held on January 24. The gowns will be displayed and participants from The Arc’s four Community Centers can try on gowns and choose one for the ball.Â
This Mardi Gras experience provides a fun night for those New Orleanians who may not otherwise get the chance. For those who donate a gown, they will receive two free sacks of Mixed Krewe trinkets from The Arc’s Mardi Gras Retail Store as a thank you for the donation.
