Bill Haines is one of the board members of the Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation. According to Haines, “The Foundation improves the quality of life for the residents of St. Bernard Parish. We do that in a number of ways, through land strategies, special projects, educational initiatives, and community building.” As New Orleans’ property prices increase, so does the population of Arabi. In fact, in recent years, more and more people are calling Arabi home, including many artists. To advance the foundation’s mission, it has partnered with Erica and Mitchell Gaudet. The well-know artist pair own Studio Inferno and have recently founded Studio Arabi. Studio Arabi is an innovative “art campus” that will be a dynamic creative hub in St. Bernard Parish. it will offer artist residences, a theatre, and studio space for a variety of artists, including wood workers, glass artists, mix media artists, painters, and photographers.
