Local students and artists had plenty to celebrate at the Young Audiences annual Winter Celebration December 10. The fundraiser, which raised more than $20,000 for New Orleans students, was held at the Warehouse District penthouse of Carey Bond and Henry Lambert, and featured the musical stylings of Andy Wolf and his bass and banjo ensemble. The event also featured food from Rio Mar, La Boca and A Mano. Partygoers were lucky enough to sample a custom-made signature cocktail – the “Bright Idea” – from Café Adelaide mixologist Lu Brow, concocted just for the occasion.
Young Audiences has been serving New Orleans students for 48 years, currently employing 220 local artists who work with 200,000 Louisiana students through learning programs, performances and residencies. The event, chaired by Richard Nesbitt and Stella DelBianco, featured art by students at Behrman Elementary and a raffle for three pairs of round trip tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S., Mexico or the Caribbean, courtesy of American Airlines.
Winners included Dr. Sandtra Spedale, Michael Brown and board member Dr. Marvelene Hughes.
