Arts District New Orleans Announces “Jammin on Julia”

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Arts District New Orleans (ADNO) is pleased to announce the return of Jammin’ on Julia, a Spring art walk + music festival hybrid event in the district. Jammin’ coincides with the First Saturday gallery openings on May 7th, from 6-9PM. In addition to the art walk, the district welcomes patrons to an evening block party featuring world class art exhibitions along Julia Street and the surrounding area, with musical performances in select galleries on Julia, Camp, and Magazine Streets, and food trucks & bars on the closed 400-600 blocks of Julia. The event is free and open to the public and is a perfect opportunity to stroll through the historic Arts District and discover New Orleans’ contemporary art, music, and cuisine.

Guests are invited to enjoy 15 incredible art exhibitions, 8 live music performances in select galleries, and libations for sale to benefit the ADNO non-profit. The event will feature cuisine from local vendors Crêpes à la Cart (savory and sweet crêpes), Southern’s Food Truck (Cajun/creole), Da Grillmaster (BBQ), Tanjariné Kitchen (Afro-vegan), and artisan popsicles from Big O’s Pops. Musical performances by local musicians with a wide variety of sounds will take place in LeMieux Gallery, JONATHAN FERRARA GALLERY, Arthur Roger Gallery, Degas Gallery, and Ariodante Gallery on Julia Street, in addition to Octavia Art Gallery (Magazine St.), Ibis Contemporary Art Gallery (Camp St.), and SPILLMAN | BLACKWELL Fine Art (Camp St.). Outside on Julia Street, the block party will feature New Orleans’ own DJ Funke all evening, with live painting by local artist’s Monica Kelly and Brent Houzenga, and kinetic sculpture by John Poche.
