We are a nearly one week into Phase 1 of the state’s coronavirus pandemic reopening. There are still safety precautions – like the requirement of a mask in indoor or heavily populated outdoor areas and staying six feet apart – put into place so people can visit restaurants, shops or even the hairdresser.
This weekend, local event planning company Z Event Company is offering an activity that keeps everyone safely apart. On Saturday, May 23, Z Event Company is hosting a drive-in movie night with a special showing of the classic film “Grease.”
(Kelly here: ever since I first watched Danny belt out “Alone In A Drive-In” after Sandy leaves him … alone in the drive-in … I have dreamed of having my own drive-in moment. This will be an epic night.)
We love the choice of movie for the obvious reason, there are many scenes filmed in a drive-in, but it’s also a love story. This opportunity gives couples a chance to mix up date nights that, throughout lockdown, likely have been confined to takeout or the slight change of venue from the dining room table to the living room.
The drive-in movie is at Bucktown Harbor Park. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at 8 p.m. There will be food trucks on site – all purchases are cashless – and masks are required for pickup. On the event’s Eventbrite page, Z Event Company suggests pre-ordering food with your ticket, to help ensure that they do not run out of food.
Additional information and to purchase tickets can be found here.
So, dress up, order some food, park your car and experience a little “Grease Lightening” on date night this weekend.
