Auditions for Rivertown Theaters' Mainstage Production of The Musical "Oliver" are Sunday, Oct. 6NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Rivertown Theaters is seeking OLDER TEEN & ADULT actors, singers, dancers and movers for their January 2020 production of OLIVER.

 

VOCALS & DANCE/MOVEMENT CALL:
When:
Sunday, Oct. 6 
Time:
Dance/movement call at 4:00pm, vocal audition slots begin at 5:00pm
Where
: ***Encore Studio, 1999 Hickory Ave., Harahan***
What to prepare
– 32 bars of a musical theatre piece in the style of the show. A selection from the show is acceptable. Please bring sheet music in proper key, an accompanist will be provided.
A dance/movement combination will be taught.

Strong actors, strong singers and movers/dancers needed for the following roles: 

Ensemble – townspeople, tavern folk, aristocrats, magistrates, street entertainers, males & females (ages 16 – mature adult)

Bill Sikes – Villain in his prime and Nancy’s brutal boy-friend. Most evil man you could ever meet, about 30-50 (Vocal Range: Baritone “C” to “E” above middle “C”)

Mr. Bumble –   Self-righteous, self-appointed beadle, oversees the operations of the work house where Oliver lives as a child.  Preaches morality, but behaves without compassion, about 45-65 (Vocal Range: Tenor “D” below middle “C” to “A” above middle “C”)

Mrs. Corney – Domineering workhouse mistress.  Sharp-tongued, domineering widow, doubles in ensemble – about 45-65 (Vocal Range: Soprano “D” above middle “C” to High “A”)

Mr. Sowerberry –  The Undertaker, stern, doubles in ensemble about 40-60; (Baritone)

Mrs. Sowerberry – The Undertaker’s overseer, loud, stern, doubles in ensemble about 40-60 (Alto)

Mrs. Bedwin – The Brownlow’s kind-hearted, motherly housekeeper, doubles in ensemble – about 45-65 (Soprano)

Mr. Bronlow
– (non-singing role, does not double in ensemble) An older gentleman of wealth & breeding (ages 55-70). If interested in this role only, and you do not consider yourself a singer, you can attend the callback only on Oct 7.

Charlotte – (non-singing role, doubles in ensemble) The Sowerberry’s saucy young daughter (ages 16-25)

Noah Claypole – (non-singing role, doubles in ensemble) Mr. Sowerberry’s apprentice, a bully (ages 16-25)

Mr. Grimwig – (non-singing role, doubles in ensemble) A Doctor. (ages 30-50)

Featured Soloists:  The Rose Seller (alto); Strawberry Seller (soprano); Milk Maid (soprano);
Knife Grinder (baritone)

Nancy – submissions for the role of Nancy will be considered at a future date

Fagin– this role has been cast
