Melanie Warner Spencer

Melanie Warner Spencer is the former editor of New Orleans Homes, New Orleans Bride, Louisiana Life and Acadiana Profile.

For more than 20 years, she has covered news, lifestyle, design and entertainment at various publications, including as the design columnist at The Austin American-Statesman, a senior staff reporter at The Houston Chronicle and as the editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Houston Brides magazine.

Her work also has appeared in The Chicago Tribune, The Huffington Post and Reuters in the United States and across the globe and she is a regular guest expert on WWL-TV/WUPL, New Orleans’ CBS Affiliate.

Melanie is editor of several books, including "Craft: The Eat Fit Guide to Zero Proof Cocktails," and Renaissance Publishing's "The Essential Louisiana Cookbook" and "The Essential Louisiana Seafood Cookbook." She is a contributing author to "Cherchez la Femme: New Orleans Women," a photographic exploration of how New Orleans women have shaped the city by Cheryl Gerber published by University Press of Mississippi and Renaissance Publishing's, "Essential New Orleans: 15 Places We Love."

An award-winning fine art and editorial photographer, Melanie has been honored by the Texas Press Association for her editorial photography, by the Press Club of New Orleans for writing and editing and by the International and Regional Magazine Association for writing, editing and photography. Most recently, Melanie exhibited a piece in a group satellite show of Prospect New Orleans, a citywide contemporary art exhibition.

Melanie is past-president of the Press Club of New Orleans and a current board member. She is also a 200-hour certified yoga teacher and registered with the Yoga Alliance. When not making magazines, Melanie enjoys cooking, hiking and biking, trying out new restaurants, yoga, taking road trips with her husband and caring for their diabetic rescue cat, Mr. Percy.
