Since its inception in 2004, the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) has grown into one of the most comprehensive nonprofits in Greater New Orleans providing services to underserved young people and their families. YEP now reaches 1,000 individuals each year across 13 parishes and operates out of 5 sites, in Central City, Mid-City, Algiers, New Orleans East, and St. Charles Parish, offering 4 impactful programs. YEP began by offering one-on-one mentoring and expanded to include adult education to help people attain their high school equivalency, out-of-school time enrichment programs, and employment readiness training. YEP’s core purpose is to empower young people to improve their lives and the lives of others. Driven by that goal, YEP has positively impacted the lives of over 10,000 New Orleanians and strengthened the City of New Orleans during two decades of service.
