Green Light New Orleans empowers residents with solutions to local environmental challenges. Green Light began in 2007, installing 600,000 energy-efficient lightbulbs in New Orleans homes. Since 2017, the rain barrel program has provided more than 3200 hand-painted rain barrels for residents. With the capacity to collect 50 gallons per rainfall, each upcycled barrel is a household contribution to collective impact, alleviating local flooding, reducing burden on the stormwater system, and capturing water for non-potable uses like gardening.
