Orthopaedic Associates of New Orleans

Matthew L. Cutrer, MD and Kevin M. Watson, MD

The team at Orthopaedic Associates of New Orleans, the oldest of its kind in New Orleans, which has been serving its community for more than 75 years, is proud to provide an unparalleled level of skill and expertise to its patients across the Greater New Orleans area. From arthroscopy to joint replacement, spine care to workers’ compensation, the OANO medical team of board-certified surgeons and physician assistants offers innovative and lasting care.

Dr. Matthew L. Cutrer is a New Orleans native and double board-certified in both Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Interventional Pain Medicine. A Jesuit High School alum, Dr. Cutrer attended the University of Mississippi before earning his medical degree at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he also completed an internship in General Surgery and residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. With a practice that focuses on minimally invasive, evidence-based procedures designed to reduce pain and restore function with minimal recovery time, Dr. Cutrer utilizes the latest research-driven technology, including neuromodulation and regenerative medicine, to allow people to return to full function and active lifestyles on their own terms.

For Dr. Cutrer, a collaborative approach is crucial to achieving the best outcomes, and he prides himself on fostering working relationships with his patients. His multi-disciplinary approach emphasizes clear communication, patient education, and individualized care plans that prioritize long-term mobility and quality of life.

A fellow New Orleanian, an alumnus of Holy Cross, Kevin M. Watson, MD, attended Vanderbilt University and Tulane University School of Medicine before deciding to utilize his skills to the benefit of his hometown neighbors.

A major focus of his practice is Big Easy Joint Replacement, a concept that grew out of the idea that joint replacement has changed significantly and not all hip and knee replacements are performed the same way. His goal is to combine modern surgical techniques, robotic technology, and an enhanced recovery approach to make joint replacement more precise while making the recovery process easier for patients. By utilizing a muscle-sparing approach, combined with MAKO robotic technology to help precisely plan implant positioning, alignment, and balancing of the knee, Dr. Watson is able to complete procedures so that patients can return home the same day as surgery when medically appropriate.
