Bacchanal Gets Primal For 20th Anniversary

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – After a two-year hiatus, Bacchanal, the wine laboratory where food, music and culture collide in New Orleans’ Ninth Ward, is resurrecting the Primal Nights series in honor of its 20th anniversary. Kicking off June 14, the series runs every other Tuesday through November and features a series of guest chef pop-ups and co-hosted dinners bringing delicious food, community and philanthropy together.

HOW IT STARTED

Primal Nights began in 2017 as a way for Bacchanal to raise money for international nonprofit Pure Water 4 Kids following Hurricane Maria’s devastation in Puerto Rico. The events were such a success that the Bacchanal team kept them going to further encourage community collaboration while giving back to a good cause. Since inception, Primal Nights have raised more than $100,000 for notable local and international causes including the New Orleans Musicians Clinic, Emeril Lagasse Foundation, Capoiera and Brazilian Cultural Arts Center New Orleans, Bike Easy, Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief, No Kid Hungry, Planned Parenthood, NAMI and many more.

“Since we started, Primal Nights have been an enjoyable way for us to collaborate with friends, give back to the community and pay homage to Bacchanal’s humble food beginnings,” says Joaquin Rodas, managing partner of Bacchanal. “This year, in honor of our 20th, we’re partnering with more chefs and look forward to raising even more money for organizations near and dear to our hearts.”

HOW IT’S GOING

Marcus Jacobs of Marjie’s Grill and Seafood Sally’s will be first up on the roster, with chefs such as Ana Castro from Lengua Madra, Tony Henderson from Palace Café, Alon Shaya from Pomegranate Hospitality and Mason Hereford from Turkey and the Wolf/Molly’s Rise and Shine all slated to appear. Updates for all chefs, music, menus and general merriment can be found on Bacchanal’s Instagram, @bacchanalwine.
