NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Baldwin & Co. announced A Historic Evening of Dialogue featuring author Ta-Nehisi Coates in conversation with MSNBC host Joy-Ann Reid. This inspiring event will take place on Friday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. at Xavier University’s Convocation Center.
The evening promises to be an exploration of empathy, power and progress, led by two of America’s most influential voices. Coates, a National Book Award winner and recipient of the MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship, will engage in dialogue with Reid about fostering more constructive conversations around challenging societal issues. The themes of empathy, power and progress are prevalent throughout Coates’ latest New York Times best-selling book, “The Message,” a collection of three essays around his travels to Dakar, Senegal; Columbia, South Carolina; and Palestine.
“This conversation is set to be one of the most important our city has seen—one that could leave a lasting impact on how we think about dialogue, power, and community,” says DJ Johnson, founder and CEO of Baldwin & Co., in a release about the event. “This event aligns with our mission to transform New Orleans through literacy and intellectual discourse.”
