NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Bar Marilou will host famed Paris baker Apollonia Poilâne for an exclusive book signing this Sunday, Nov. 3 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. to celebrate her new cookbook, “Poilâne: Secrets of the World-Famous Bread Bakery,” released this week. Apollonia is shipping breads fresh from her bakery in Paris for the event, making this event the first and only time her famous Poilâne breads will be available in New Orleans.
Tickets for the event are $40 and include a copy of the book, bites from the cookbook (all made with Poilâne bread) and a cocktail. Here is the event link to purchase tickets.
As background, Apollonia is the third generation baker and owner of the world famous Paris bakery Poilâne, founded by her grandfather in 1932. This week, she released her first US cookbook, “POILÂNE: The Secrets of the World-Famous Bread Bakery,” which for the first time shares detailed instructions for home bakers to reproduce the popular Parisian sourdough, along with many of the bakery’s famous tarts, pastries, and butter cookies. Going beyond the recipes, the book also tells the story of how Apollonia, at the age of eighteen, took over this global business after the tragic loss of her parents and steered it into an exciting future.
