NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Barcadia New Orleans has partnered with local icon Carl Mack of Carl Mack Presents to gift its guests with a unique Christmas experience from now until Sunday, January 5. Officially launched on Monday, December 2 and running through the twelve days of Christmas, the bar has been transformed into a whimsical winter wonderland just in time for the holiday season. With traditional Yuletide décor hanging from the ceilings, festive lights adorning the walls, and elements of 20th century nostalgia peppered throughout, guests will feel as though they’ve walked right into their favorite Christmas movie. The experience will also feature a fully customized cocktail list to further immerse guests in the holiday spirit. Barcadia is located in between Lafayette Square and The Mississippi River at 601 Tchoupitoulas Street.
“The idea for this experience started when I decided to call up my old friend, Carl Mack,” says Billy Blatty, restauranteur, event producer, and owner of Barcadia. “With his expertise, I knew he was the perfect person to help transform our flagship location into the retro Christmas utopia we’d envisioned. We’re excited for our regulars to see the bar in a new festive light, and for people coming in the first time to be transported to a holiday paradise.”
In addition to the dazzling décor, guests have nine Christmas-themed cocktails to choose from on Barcadia’s holiday drink menu which includes both warm and cold beverages. Inspired by popular Christmas songs and films, each drink is made with festive blend of liqueurs, spices, and flavors that are sure to please any holiday reveler. Those looking for relief from the cold should try the Getting Blitzin, made with house hot chocolate, mint liqueur, and whipped cream. Wine lovers should order the Resting Grinch Face, featuring red wine, brandy, Christmas spice, and O.J. Guests seeking something a little different and extra flavorful should get the Feliz Navidad, made with tequila, averna, Christmas spice, and bitters. Guests can also choose to upgrade their cocktails with Christmas themed glassware, while Santa mugs and other holiday themed souvenirs can be purchased for an additional charge.
Children of all ages are also welcomed to join in on the holiday fun, with kids under 21 being allowed in until 9 PM. The bar will still have its lineup of arcade games that inspired its name, perfect to play for children and adults alike. Other family-friendly highlights include holiday movies playing on the TV’s, themed attire for the staff, and numerous picture opportunities as guests are encouraged to dress up too.
The Christmas makeover is not the only transformation Barcadia New Orleans has gone through. Earlier this year, renovations began on the property, including updates to all four of its rooms, beginning with the front patio and extending to its Asian-inspired Ohm Lounge. The outdoor patio is a micro-environment one might expect to find on a scenic road in Florida with its bright pastel furniture, white tables, and living moss laden doorways. Moving around some its arcade games, Barcadia has expanded its lounge area, giving their team more room to execute their contemporary design plan. The décor is stunning yet simple, including traditional hand-made Shoji screens, imported furniture from Japan and Singapore, 350-year-old vases, 24-carat gold-leaf domes and a solid wood bamboo bar-top crowned by woven wooden lamps to stimulate one’s visual senses. A stunning Komyo-Ji by Tadao Ando temple resides in the expanded lounge, adorned with Chinese lanterns that float underneath to complement the updated fusion design.
Barcadia is open from 11 a.m. – 2 a.m. daily.
