Bayou Boogaloo: New Orleans’ culture thrives on the banks of Bayou St. John

Jared Zeller is the founder and president of MotherShip Foundation.  Although people may not recognize the name of this non-profit organization, many know its premiere festival, Bayou Boogaloo. Zeller’s impetus for starting Bayou Boogaloo was to bring New Orleanians together after Hurricane Katrina shattered our lives. The focus was and still is on fostering our community, celebrating our culture, and bringing people together. Every year, Bayou Boogaloo gets bigger and better. This year, some of the featured performers will be Irma Thomas,The Wailers, and the Lowrider Band. Bayou Boogaloo 2016 will be Friday, May 20 through Sunday, May 22.
