BATON ROUGE, La (press release) – Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and the Office of State Parks announce the full reopening of Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego, Louisiana. Previously open to day-use only, Bayou Segnette State Park is reopening all overnight facilities, including cabins and campsites, to the general public through online reservation. To better ensure the safety of all visitors, certified cleaning crews have performed a complete sanitation of all areas inside the park.
Reservations for overnight stays in cabins and campsites can be made starting today through Reserve America. As part of the reopening, Louisiana State Parks will continue offering a special discount of booking 4 nights for the price of 3. The promo code – WELCOMEBACK – can be used at checkout for stays through Sept. 7, 2020.
Park hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Visitors are also reminded to follow the CDC guidelines while using Louisiana State Parks facilities.
Bayou Segnette State Park, only a thirty-minute drive across the Mississippi River from New Orleans, offers a multitude of recreational opportunities for all ages. Walking trails and picnic areas are available for the whole family or take part in boating, fishing, camping, and nature watching in an ecosystem with trees and wildlife from both swamps and marshland.
