NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Ernst Cafe, the oldest locally owned and continually-operated bar in the Warehouse District, features the largest covered balcony in New Orleans and cred-worthy beer specials. Pub grub includes everything from chicken wings, Southwest eggrolls, and Creole nachos to burnt ends bbq pork mac-n-cheese and debris fries. The all-day menu features entrees salads and soups, and favorites including the Ernst’s gumbo bowl. Other entrees include seafood, chicken, and hamburger platters all served with fries and jalapeño coleslaw. House-made burgers include the Ernst burger; urban cowboy burger with bacon, cheddar, grilled onion, and smoky bbq sauce; a mushroom and Swiss burger; and the el Diablo with Patton hot sausage patty, pepper Jack cheese, charred jalapeño, and Ernst sauce. The po’boys, served on Leidenheimer French bread, include Gulf shrimp, crispy Gulf fish, roast beef, Patton’s hot sausage, and the Ernster with slow-cooked roast beef and deep-fried shrimp. Sandwiches include chicken tender, blue crab cake, burnt ends bbq, and a chicken bacon ranch wrap.
