NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Named after The Rolling Stones’ famous album, Beggars Banquet is the brainchild of the Dilonno family, who also co-own the recently-opened No Dice bar and music venue on St. Claude. Beggars Banquet has just announced new seasonal dinner, brunch and cocktails, along with an expanded happy hour.
Under the direction of Chef/Owner Mike Dilonno and recently-appointed Sous Chef Amanda Wachowski, new menu items include Tuna Crudo with satsuma, lemon, and pickled shallots; Oyster Stew served in a puffed pastry with Shiitakes, garlic, ginger, onions and tarragon; Pan Seared Shrimp – head-on shrimp served with creamed crab rice, roasted corn and chili butter sauce; Pork Schnitzel with a shaved Brussels sprouts salad; and a new Praline Bread Pudding with bourbon sauce.
Chef Amanda is also featuring rotating weekly seasonal specials. Weekend brunch at Beggars Banquet has new dishes such as Shrimp & Grits with pan-seared Gulf shrimp, a rich Abita BBQ sauce, and mascarpone grits.
Head Bartender Josa Lazas has curated a creative cocktail program that is focused on fresh, seasonal produce and herbs. New libations include Heartbreak Hotel – peanut butter washed bourbon, cognac, banana, and Bitter Queens chocolate & walnut bitters; I’m a Slav 4 U – borscht syrup, beef fat washed vodka, crème fraiche, and dill; Jalisco Martini – reposado tequila, Cocchi Vermouth di Torino, Frangelico, orange bitters and sesame oil; Chah Cha Now Y’all – La Luna mezcal, heirloom pineapple, and genepy; and Chai Me Up, Scotty! – Flor de Cana rum, chai, pomegranate, lime and blood orange. An array of non-alcoholic cocktails are also available, including Carrot Dreamsicle – carrot, Earl Grey, cardamon, orange and oat milk, Regency Romance – Lyres non-alcoholic gin, lavender, lemon and bubbles and Perfect Dichotomy – Lyres non-alcoholic rum blend, chai, pomegranate and lime. and pineapple cordial.
Imbibers will love the new expanded Happy Hour, available at the bar Wednesday through Friday from 4 – 6 p.m. and on Saturday & Sunday from 3 – 5 p.m. Happy Hour bites ($5 – $10) include Sriracha Cauliflower, Crispy Firecracker Calamari, Smoked Redfish Dip, Tuna Crudo, Fried Green Tomatoes, Pimento Cheese with baked crackers and Beggars Bar Nuts. Signature cocktails, priced at $9, include Old Fashioned, French 75, house Daiquiri with Flor de Cana Rum and a Cosmo, and house wine is available for $7.
