For the third consecutive year of “Wine, Dine & Design,” St. Charles Avenue and parent company Renaissance Publishing LLC, together with Presenting Sponsor Bryan Subaru, proudly presented a benefit for Bastion Veterans Housing Development, an organization that’s building an intentionally designed neighborhood in New Orleans for returning warriors with lifelong rehabilitative needs and families. Elizabeth and Peyton Bush and Michele and Lamar Villere chaired the event.
Local designers and retailers creatively transformed 26 tables into lavish and whimsical works of art, sparing no design detail to create an entirely unparalleled dining experience and theme at each tablescape.
The preview cocktail party on Wednesday, October 12, allowed nearly 250 guests a sneak peek at the intricate and ornate tablescapes while enjoying wine and hors d’oeuvres by the Audubon Tea Room Culinary Team and live music. A live auction featured packages such as a weekend stay in Napa Valley, a staycation in the Ace Hotel and more.
The luncheon took place the following day, and included hors d’oeuvres to start, followed by a three-course seated lunch with wine pairings. Guests learned more about Bastion while artist Alex Harvie created a live painting of the event, which auctioned for an additional $4,500. There was also an auction of a homestay in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and three handmade hats from RDS Concepts for Bastion.
As the luncheon ended, an anonymous "angel" offered to match the proceeds from both events, bringing the total raised to more than $174,000.
