What are the most important things to consider when planning a wedding? The No. 1 thing is budgeting. It is important to establish your budget. Know how much money you have and what you can spend for your wedding.

Second is date and location. When considering setting a date and venue, keep in mind holidays and events. For example, flights, hotels and transportation will increase during holidays and special events. Thinking about this will help eliminate paying extra cost for you and your guests.

What are some common dilemmas that occur during wedding planning, and how do you avoid—or remedy—them? Overspending. Brides tend to get over excited and purchase everything in sight. To avoid this, the key is to communicate, prioritize and figure out what’s important. Expect the unexpected. You can never control Mother Nature. Always have a plan; prepare for a tent or an indoor backup location.

What is your personal style as an event planner? Design for an experience. We love to incorporate everything around us, from fashion to interior design into our wedding world. Our style is very modern.

What are some new trends you are noticing in terms of wedding entertainment? The new trend is incorporating theatrical performers as a source of entertainment, such as utilizing aerialists to serve champagne or dessert. The trend is to have entertainment that is more interactive for guests to get more involved.

You also plan wedding showers and engagement parties. What are some trends you’ve noticed with those? Yes, we plan wedding showers and engagement parties, anything—whether big or small events. Engagement parties and wedding showers are like mini weddings now. Brides love to incorporate a theme into their events to keep cohesive with their wedding theme. Popular themes are vintage and shabby chic.

What are the main differences between an engagement party, a wedding shower and a bachelorette party? Are all three necessary? Which one is the most important? All three events are different and necessary. However, the engagement party is the most important. Engagement parties are important because it is the formal announcement of the marriage. The wedding shower is when the bride’s siblings and family give the bride advice on marriage. The bachelorette party is for the bride and her girlfriends to celebrate her last night of being single.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell our readers? Don’t be afraid to go outside the box. The wedding should reflect you and your fiancé, and have fun with it!
