One of our great city’s monikers may be “The Big Sleazy,” but the dedicated individuals at Planned Parenthood work diligently to make sure that isn’t the case. Celebrating 25 years in New Orleans, this year the organization hosted its annual “Safe Sex in the Big Easy” fundraiser, held this year at the Fourth Street home of Anne and Edmund Reed on Wednesday, October 14. Clad in cocktail attire, 90 guests enjoyed an open bar, passed appetizers and a buffet-style dinner catered by Patti Constanin. The Last Straws were the choice entertainment of the evening, keeping the likes of chair Doreen Cronrath, Rebecca Golden and special guest Brian Reyes on their feet all night. Reyes is a hot new designer who launched his first Prêt-a-porter collection at the tender age of 24, and is the newest designer to partner with Planned Parenthood. The partnership launched in September during New York City Fashion Week. One lucky winner of the raffle left the party with the promise of a decadent weekend trip to the Big Apple to stay in a two-bedroom Upper East Side apartment. The evening raised more than $50,000, funds that will go toward promoting and fulfilling Planned Parenthood’s mission of ensuring sexual and reproductive health services, advocacy and education to all.
