Big Freedia Takes Cooking Show Outside In ‘Garden Cookout’ Starting July 2

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Big Freedia, the Queen of New Orleans Bounce, is excited to invite fans to a cookout every Thursday in the Garden. Starting July 2 at 7 PM CST, Big Freedia will prepare garden-to-table meals in the edible botanical gardens in New Orleans City Park in front of a limited live audience.

From dishes like You Already Know Stuffed Bell Peppers, and sides like booty smac ‘n cheese and fresh grilled asparagus, Big Freedia will prepare and serve-up new dishes each week, using fresh herbs and vegetables picked from the garden.

“Cookouts bring people together,” says Big Freedia, who has been live-streaming her two cooking shows since quarantine started, ‘Whatcha Cooking Wednesdays’ and ‘Sunday Gospel Brunch.’ “I am so excited to get people back together in an outdoor environment. To partner with City Park, who have been educating the public about gardening and food, is an honor.”

The invite is a limited, socially distanced event. Thirty-two tickets will be available (for $75) in advance via her website, here. (If it doesn’t look like it will rain, there will be sixteen additional tickets available on the day of the event.) The Admission includes: a three-course meal, a complimentary cocktail, and a photo with Big Freedia.

The events will continue to be live-streamed on Freedia’s social media. For tickets, click here.
