NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The Garden District Book Shop will host acclaimed biographer Brad Gooch on March 22 to celebrate the release of his latest book “Radiant,” a stunning life of the iconic American artist Keith Haring.
Keith Haring was one of the most emblematic artists of the 1980s, a figure described by his contemporaries as “a prophet in his life, his person, and his work.” Part of an iconic cultural crowd that included Andy Warhol, Madonna, and Basquiat, Haring broke down the barriers between high art and popular culture, creating work that was accessible for all and using it as a means to provoke and inspire radical social change. Haring died of AIDS in 1990. To this day, his influence on our culture remains incontrovertible, and his glamorous, tragically short life has a unique aura of mystery and power.
The event will kick off at 6 p.m. and Gooch will delight guests with insights and a presentation on Haring’s life. Afterwards, he will be available to answer guests’ questions before he personalizes copies of his book.
Entry to the event is free and open to the public but the shop encourages interested parties to RSVP to ensure entry and reserve a copy of the book on Eventbrite as space is limited. Additional copies will be available to purchase.
