NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Many shelters in the U.S. struggle to feed the pets in their care, especially as economic uncertainty impacts monetary and food donations. Responding to the need in its growing network of 5,000 shelters and rescues across the country, BISSELL Pet Foundation (BPF) launched Feed the Shelters to address this problem. In March, the foundation raised $21,072 in an online fundraising campaign. It matched that amount to feed 17 shelters in 9 states, while also providing food at 9 locations in Michigan and Louisiana for community members who cannot afford to feed their pets.
