Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints may be Super Bowl champions, but they still want to be champions for the community. The Play It Forward Foundation held its annual Black and Gold Gala October 1 in the Superdome, raising awareness and funds for Feed the Children, which provides semi-trucks full of food to organizations in the Gulf Coast region, and the Dr. Phil Foundation, which helps Gulf Coast families in need.
Master of ceremonies Sean Payton opened the black tie seated dinner event on the 50-yard line. The evening featured an open bar, memory photos with the Lombardi trophy, autographed copies of Home Team by Sean Payton and live and silent auctions, which featured such coveted items as tickets to Jimmy Kimmel Live including airfare and hotel, autographed Saints memorabilia, the Datmobile (a custom E-Z-GO Freedom RXV golf cart) and a trip for two to Super Bowl XLV in Dallas to see the Saints win another championship.
The event featured music from local favorites Better Than Ezra and the Bucktown Allstars as well as an appearance by special honorary chair and country music artist Sammy Kershaw.
