Blooms by Design

Art in Bloom, presented by the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Garden Study Club of New Orleans, was a splendid springtime fundraiser for the grande dame of New Orleans museums. NOMA, which is celebrating its centennial all year, was filled with patrons of the arts and partygoers on the evening of March 30, when the patron and preview party took place. Guests were treated to music by NOCCA Jazz Band, along with libations and cuisine from various local restaurants. Live and silent auctions also further benefited the cause – including a rendition of “Happy Birthday” by the waiters of Galatoire’s and Anais St. John.

But the fun didn’t stop at the party. For the next five days, the museum was extra vibrant, as it showcased art from more than 100 exhibitors who had created inspirational floral designs, sculptures and scenery. The city’s oldest fine arts institution will continue to exhibit, interpret and preserve works of art from ancient to modern times, educating, enriching and engaging New Orleanians and visitors alike.
