NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Blue Cypress Books will host a very special story time with local author Maika Llaneza on Sunday, March 30, at 1 p.m. Llaneza will read her picture book “The Gobbling Goblins.” The reading will be followed by a fun craft for all ages.
Copies of Llaneza’s book, “The Gobbling Goblins” (Melissa de la Cruz Studio, 2025) may be purchased through the Blue Cypress website or in-person during the event.
This event is free and open to the public and will take place at the bookstore, located at 8123 Oak St.
Maika Llaneza is a 1.5 generation Filipina American whose interests include the weird and obscure plus all things spooky and campy.
She has worked with students with disabilities for 20 years and is currently an Assistant Director of the Office for Accessible Education at Loyola University, New Orleans. She is passionate about diversity and inclusion and supporting works created by underrepresented communities.
Maika earned her BA in International Studies and a Master of Science in Accessible Education. She is one Capstone Seminar from a Master of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Theology – Institute for Spirituality and Social Justice Program at Xavier University in Cincinnati. These days she is working on her third graphic novel manuscript.
