Bonded In Blue

Decked out in blue, hundreds of patrons joined Crimestoppers GNO to thank law enforcement for their service and to raise funds for Youth Crime Prevention and Leadership programs, including Tip Hotline and Victim’s Services. The event raised a record-breaking $150,000.

Andree and Jay Batt; Robert and Kathy Zetzmann; and Dr. Louis and Donna Levin served as Patron Co-Chairs. Christine Vinson; Lena and Larry Dyess; and Joseph Lopinto III served as Committee Co-Chairs. Donny Markowitz was the Entertainment Chair and Honorary Chair Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser and wife Cher were in attendance.

The VIP Reception preceding the event featured entertainment by Charmaine Neville. Patrons dined on selections from Andrea’s, Antoine’s, Galatoire’s, Haydel’s Bakery, Jimmy Moran, Martin Wine Cellar, Mr. John’s Steakhouse, Royal House, The Pelican Club and Toulouse Gourmet.

At the live auction, chef Andrea was so excited about the turnout that he stepped on stage and auctioned off a stay at his beautiful villa on the Isle of Capri. Other items auctioned were a private cocktail party for 75 at Pat O’Brien’s Briar Room, a Browning Maxus 12-gauge shotgun, dinner for eight prepared in your home by chef Kevin Belton and a center court suite for a Pelican’s basketball game. A raffle included a four-night trip for two to San Francisco, including airfare, lodging, tickets to the Saints versus 49ers game, winery tours, lunch and wine tastings.

More than 29 restaurants and vendors provided fantastic food and beverages for the event. Bands and musicians who performed included Bucktown All-Stars, Paul Sanchez, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Bonerama, Bobby Rush, Anaïs St. John, Robin Barnes, Rockin’ Dopsie, James Andrews and the Brass-A-Holics.

A special tribute was made to the law enforcement agency heads that attended to pass on to a patrolman. The gift bag contained an engraved flashlight, a St. Michael challenge coin and a prayer card.
