Bonnaroo 2017

Bonnaroo

Every June the focus of the music world falls to the Farm just outside of Manchester, Tennessee for four days of music, art and camaraderie.  Over the years Bonnaroo has become one of the premier musical events around the world.  The festival organizers have created a vibe that transcends the bands scheduled to play.  I’ve written about this at length, but there is a tremendous sense of goodwill that Bonnaroo has built over the years and that momentum carries the festival forward.  Not only does the festival present an amazing slate of headliners each year, but it also curates an amazing collection of emerging artists to hold down The Who stage and The New Music on Tap stage, as well as the earlier spots on some of the larger stages.  For me this is the heart and soul of Bonnaroo.  At a festival of this caliber, the headliners are always going to be impressive, that’s pretty much a given at this point.  Bonnaroo thrives by collecting bands that you’ve either heard of and want to see and bands you haven’t yet heard of but definitely should have.  Just a quick glance reveals gems like Allan Rayman, Two Feet, Urban Cone, and Ella Vos – all rising stars who can be seen in intimate experiences relative to the larger festival stages.  I tend to spend a lot of time bouncing between these stages (The Who stage has shade and mini donuts, The New Music on Tap stage has a beer garden – what’s not to like?)  The gates at Centeroo open in a few hours but you still have plenty of time to make it up to the Farm.  If you can’t drop everything and head to the mountains, we have you covered with daily updates and pictures from the festival.  Also don’t forget about the livestream, you can watch some of the key performances from the comfort of your couch and with direct kitchen/shower access.  Below check out a few videos from some of these emerging artists:

Voodoo Music + Arts Experience

This week Voodoo Fest dropped their 2017 lineup as well.  There are some excellent performances headed our way with Kendrick Lamar, the Foo Fighters and LCD Soundsystem leading the bill.  I’ll have a full breakdown soon, but at first blush there is a lot to like about this lineup with Whitney, Mondo Cozmo, Flint Eastwood and Strand of Oaks all making appearances in the small print.  Check out the full lineup here:  https://www.voodoofestival.com/
