Bonnaroo Day 4

Sundays at the farm always move a bit more slowly than the rest of the week. The campsites begin to disappear back into cars, and the possibility of a world outside the fest becomes a bit more real. De Lux helped us forget ourselves with a wonderful Talking Heads inspired set. Sol Cat proved that they should have been in a much bigger venue than the New Music Tent and Brandi Carlile brought all of her extensive charm to bear on the Which Field. Over the past few years, the Bluegrass Situation has taken over the That Tent on Sunday for a full day of Bluegrass, which culminates in the Bluegrass Superjam. This year that show was the place to be. The members of The Lonesome Trio and The Punch Brothers held down the stage while being joined by a steady rotation of musicians like Bela Fleck, Abigail Washburn, Jerry Douglas and Shakey Graves. Basically, the whole of the day’s performers remained to close out the festival with a stunning array of talent and good cheer. We didn’t even make it to Billy Joel; the Bluegrass Situation was the only vibe that fit the end of fest. I’ll have full reports starting later this week.
